چکیده

Real-time analog multiplication of two signals is one of the most important operations in analog signal processing. The multiplier is used not only as a computational building block but also as a programming element in systems such as filters, neural networks, and as mixers and modulators in a communication system. Although high performance bipolar junction transistor multipliers have been available for some time, the CMOS multiplier implementation is still a challenging subject especially for low-voltage and low-power circuit design. Despite the large number of papers proposing new MOS multiplier structures, they can be roughly grouped into a few categories. This tutorial provides a complete survey of CMOS multipliers, presents a unified generation of multiplier architectures, and proposes the most recommended MOS multiplier structure. This tutorial could serve as a starting reference point (and metric) for comparison of new CMOS multiplier circuit configurations. An illustrative CMOS chip prototype verifying theoretical results is presented.

New Clock-Feedthrough Compensation Scheme for Switched-Current Circuits - Circuits and Systems II: Analog and Digital Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on

An improved clock-feedthrough compensation scheme for switched current system is proposed. Both the signal dependent and the constant clock-feedthrough terms are canceled by using both nMOS and pMOS current samplers and by adopting a source replication technique. The proposed current memory cell was fabricated with 0.6m CMOS process. Both experimental and theoretical results on clockfeedthrough...

Pulse-Based Analog VLSI Velocity Sensors - Circuits and Systems II: Analog and Digital Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on

We present two algorithms for estimating the velocity of a visual stimulus and their implementations with analog circuits using CMOS VLSI technology. Both are instances of so-called token methods, where velocity is computed by identifying particular features in the image at different locations; in our algorithms, these features are abrupt temporal changes in image irradiance. Our circuits integ...

A Wide Tuning Range Gm - C Continuous-Time Analog Filter

A Wide Tuning Range Gm-C Continuous-Time Analog Filter is a CMOS operation nal transconductance amplifier for low-power and wide tuning range filter application is proposed. The transconductor can work from the weak inversion region to the strong inversion region to maximize the transconductance tuning range. The trasconductance can be tuned by changing its bias current. A fifth-order Elliptic ...

A fast wallace-based parallel multiplier in quantum-dot cellular automata

Physical limitations of Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductors (CMOS) technology at nanoscale and high cost of lithography have provided the platform for creating Quantum-dot Cellular Automata (QCA)-based hardware. The QCA is a new technology that promises smaller, cheaper and faster electronic circuits, and has been regarded as an effective solution for scalability problems in CMOS technolog...

A Mathematical Basis for Power-Reduction in Digital VLSI Systems - Circuits and Systems II: Analog and Digital Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on

Presented in this paper is a mathematical basis for power-reduction in VLSI systems. This basis is employed to: 1) derive lower bounds on the power dissipation in digital systems; and 2) unify existing power-reduction techniques under a common framework. The proposed basis is derived from informationtheoretic arguments. In particular, a digital signal processing algorithm is viewed as a process...
